We’ve reached the end of another week, beautifuls! I can’t believe the month will soon be over! Well, before time rushes by too quickly, I should get these 5 Finds 4 Friday started!
A lot has happened this week in the world of Pop Culture. Harry Potter, IRL (Not to be confused with Daniel Radcliffe) was arrested for marijuana possession. Clutcheth Pearlsio! Bill Nye the Science Guy is back and he has a DOPE new theme song, courtesy of Tyler the Creator. If you haven’t seen Aisha Hinds as Harriet Tubman on HGN’s Underground yet, you really need to get your life! Janet Jackson shared with us a photo of her newborn baby son, and AWWW! While we are on the subject of rich black women having babies with rich men, Serena Williams is pregnant!!! I can already see Beyoncé’s kids and Serena’s kids starring in “Sorry 2.0” 20 years from now!!! And last but not least, I don’t usually celebrate someone’s job loss. However, I did a quick Bankhead bounce at this news! Fox News handed out that pink slip to Bill O’Reilly! Let me put down my petty for a moment and get with these finds!
Frankly, I’d Pick Miss Tina Over Coachella, Too!
Back in February, Beyoncé help inaugurate Black History Month in the most epic way, by announcing her pregnancy to the world. While most of us rejoiced at the news that TWO MORE Knowles-Carters were coming into the world for us to adore, there was a few who expressed concern about one thing. What happened to the not to be missed Coachella set Bey had planned? Weeks later, she confirmed that two buns in the oven = no Coachella performance. Which reasonable people understood completely. Instead of rocking the house and getting her delicate ankles all swollen on a stage, she hung with Mama Tina and Kelly Rowland to celebrate Easter. And thanks to Mama Tina’s Instagram, we got ringside seats to the festivities! See? No public toilets needed!! Win!
Does Sean Even Have Edges Left?
These are the questions that demand answers. Another question I would ask is, SHOULD we tell him about Jamaican Black Castor oil, or nah? I mean, poor Spitty Spice is already balding. It may be the kind thing to clue him in to something that would restore what little hair he has left every time Melissa McCarthy appears as him on SNL, no?
This Week In, “They TRIED It….“

As a non-Muslim American, I try to stay the fuck in my lane when it comes to issues facing Muslims in this country and across the globe. Instead, I think it is important to amplify the voices of Muslims. What better way to understand a perspective unfamiliar to you? That being said, there is a lot of nasty, uninformed rhetoric going on about Islam. Extremists are as much of a representative of Islam as the KKK are representatives of Christianity. Despite some of the push back Lamyaa (One of my favorite names, btw!) received for sharing this private conversation with her Father, I appreciate her doing so. I am sure that there are countless women and girls who would love to not wear a hijab, but cannot due to family or societal pressure. However, I also know that there are women who willingly and wholeheartedly choose to wear one. By sharing her conversation, Lamyaa illustrated a fact that (sadly) many people tend to ignore: There is not one way to be Muslim. Read more about this story on Buzzfeed.
The Cast of Black Panther OFFICIALLY WINS the #GetOutChallenge
That’s a wrap on this viral trend, y’all. There is no way in Hades that you could ever top this one. I think the only way it could be beaten is if the Tangerine Terror did it as he was leaving The White House. For good! Hey, a girl can dream, can’t she? Anyway, any #GetOutChallenge featuring the actual STAR of the film is definitely going to be difficult to top!
I’m Adding This To The List Of Things We Didn’t Ask For in 2017
I’m no K-Pop aficionado. I like Brown Eyed Girls, SISTAR, and thanks to an extensive education from my own K-Pop expert, Jay of Afro Girl Shenanigans, I can add VIXX to that list. But in my viewing of K-Pop never ONCE did I think to myself, “Boy! This genre could use some white folk!“. Despite many many MANY people sharing this attitude, EXP is here to share their music, which 75% of Asian Twitter clapped back to their offerings with a united, “We’re good!“. Jay sent me the above video which she feels illustrates her sentiments about this situation. Read all about it on Next Shark.
Now that I’ve shared my finds…. Let’s Dish!!! Tell me which of this week’s 5 Finds 4 Friday really resonated with you. Do you have a find for this week you’d like to share? Leave it in the comments!
